Hunting Tree Dogs on Squirrel & Coon

Slow afternoon hunt

Took Cheyenne and Storm to the National Forest today to hunt some squirrels.  I have been hunting Storm by herself since she has all the basics down and just needs woods time.  Sometime she hunts out good, but most of the time she still hangs close to me.  Today I tried a trick of mine to get her to hunt a little deeper.  I took Cheyenne and hunted her first, leaving Storm in the box.  I didn't move very fast so Cheyenne would circle more and really hunt the area out.  I timed it so that we were back at the truck about an hour before dark.  Then I got Storm out and left Cheyenne in the box.  I headed back the same way that Cheyenne and I had just hunted so that Storm would be able to pick up her scent.  The scent got her atttention and gave her a track to follow.  She would take off trailing Cheyenne's old tracks and get out of sight before she realized it.  I waited for her each time so she could find me easily and build confidence.  Then we would continue on hunting until she would scent something else.  We didn't end up seeing anything but she worked several tracks and gained alot of confidence.
