NEW East Fork LED Cap Light

Posted by Sunset Treed at 11:13 PM on February 08, 2010

I have have been hunting with one of these for awhile now and I really like it!  First thing I noticed was the durable construction.  The box it came in got destroyed by UPS and I thought for sure the light would be broke.  Took it out, turned it on, and it worked like a charm!!  Second thing was the difference between low and high.  When you have the light on low the primary and six auxillary LED's all burn.  This throws a wide flood type beam of soft white light with a dim spot in the middle.  On high only the primary LED burns and it is much brighter.  This throws a tight beam of bright light.  I burn tested it on high to check the time and it was still burning at 20 hours just as advertised!!

I really like the low setting because it's not to bright but has plenty of light for walking and looking at your garmin (I keep the back light off to save the battery).  I also like the low setting with a red pop cover for shining eyes.  This seems to work really well when walking in to the tree.  On high it throws a bright spot that will shine the tops of trees easily.

The best part is no cord or seperate battery to deal with!  This thing weighs 1 lb 5 oz which is the same weight as your old 5100 head and bump cap, only it is balanced front to back.  The battery pack is sealed and mounted on the cap but can be changed by the owner.  The head is sealed as well so the whole light is completely weather resistant.
